To celebrate Mother's Day weekend, the white-loving Hollywood diva and star of VH1's scripted series "Single Ladies," LisaRaye McCoy, chatted up TheYBF.com about motherhood. And she offered advice on her own journey...which is no stranger to controversy. Also, she told us about her "parental contract" which might be a nifty little tip other moms can use.... As the mother of 22-year-old model Kai Morae, Chicago native LisaRaye has balanced her own career with good old fashioned parenting. And she's learned that mothering has its rewards and told us it's "the unconditional love I feel for my daughter." But it also presents its challenges. The divorced dramedy actress says the hardest part about being a mother is discipline, telling us: "When I've had to put my daughter on punishment, it physically hurts me." Here's more of what LisaRaye shared.... On relationships with men & love "I tell my daughter you have to beware of all types of people. And she has to be aware of herself because there are going to be failures and downfalls in life. Period. But I think the greatest preparation for that is experience. The best thing is to make sure your child has a strong enough character that pitfalls won't knock her down and take the breath from her. And she will know how to pick herself up." On communication "I had those sidebar talks with my daughter about sex and birth control and doctor appointments. I think because I'm a mother who's in the public eye, I have to stay current on what's going on. It makes me kinda "cooler." I'm saying that to say I'm more "in the know" with my daughter. We have a friendship and speak about anything. Having your kids trust you and be able to come to you about anything is important." On discipline and contracts "My daughter has lived a privileged lifestyle by virtue of being LisaRaye's daughter. And sometimes that's a downfall because you have to learn how to get it for yourself. So for me, I had to sit her down and say--I'm going to make a contract between you and I. This contract will say what I will do for you and these are the things I am expecting in return. I did this because life is a contract. Everything you do from your first car to your first house is a contract. So you have to abide by the boundaries of the contract or there will be disciplinary strikes against you. And it works for us." The idea of a contract with your child sounds like a great nugget of wisdom to pass along to parents. Sweet! PS: Season 2 of "Single Ladies" premieres Monday, May 28th at 9/8c on VH1. By Jocelyn Vena Jay Sean Photo: MTV News For Jay Sean's lead single, "I'm All Yours," off his forthcoming album Worth It All, there was only one guy who could capture the track's bounce and party vibe. That guy is Miami-bred rhymer Pitbull, who brings his signature sense of gruffy swagger to the song. "Well, you know, people who know my music, especially when I first came over to America, one of the first things that people noticed with my songs is I like to do feel-good songs. And when it comes to the singles, that's what I like to give them. And 'I'm All Yours' is really the epitome of all that," Sean explained to MTV News about the dance track. Full of pounding beats and bleeps, the song is about falling for a girl who makes all the partying and fun even better. "It's taking the modern movement of dance, which has obviously taken over the whole world, but I'm not putting it in the nightclub environment," he continued. "So it's still got that element of romance, which is what I like to bring to music. So it's high-energy and romantic. And the Pitbull collaboration actually happened in Australia, where we were on tour together, and you know, we're all fans of each other. We got talking, like, 'Man, we should do something.' So we laid it out right there and then." What emerged from their friendship is a song tailor-made for both Sean and Pit. The track is fun, summery and a definite dance-floor anthem, three qualities these two guys know a lot about given their individual music histories. "I think the thing is, you got someone like Pit and myself, we share similar fanbases, but also, as I said, it's that high-energy music that really blends well together," he said. "And I think sometimes certain voices and certain vibes and certain styles just work together on a record, so it was just nice the way it came out." By John Mitchell
On Wednesday (May 2) we learned that Demi Lovato, Avril Lavigne and Miley Cyrus are all being courted as possible replacements for Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger on "The X Factor" judging panel.

But don't get your knickers in a twist — "The X Factor" originated in Britain, after all — Britney Spears is reportedly still in the game too, though reports that she "insisted on various perks that have bogged down negotiations" are floating around.

So to be clear, Britney might still be in, Demi is close to a deal and Miley and Avril are on the table. A few months ago, we could have replaced the Demi with Janet Jackson and Miley with Mariah Carey. And prior to her tragic passing in February, Whitney Houston was also being considered for the panel, according to remaining judges L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell.

Never before has the casting process for a reality television show judge been so exhaustingly long and public. Sure, before Jennifer Lopez signed on to "American Idol" there were rumors that she was being pursued, but no public statements were made until she had signed on the dotted line. And while the constant stream of potential candidates being leaked to the press or talked about openly by Reid or Cowell may itself be a negotiation technique — most likely to try to ambush Spears into signing on for fear of being replaced — is also doing something very specific to the troubled signing competition.

It is making "The X Factor" look desperate. Really desperate.

With the FOX upfronts just two weeks away and filming on the production scheduled to begin early this summer, it's not exactly encouraging that the show cannot secure above-the-title talent. An upfront is a showcase hosted at the start of important advertising sales periods by network executives, and they are attended by the press and, more importantly, major advertisers.

"The X Factor" is a costly show for FOX, and the deal on the table for Spears, reported to be $15 million per season, certainly isn't bringing the budget down. Watching the never-ending parade of potential judges unfurl and then walk away — and keep in mind that the show is also casting about for two hosts to replace Steve Jones — cannot be serving the show well with eagle-eyed advertisers watching closely to see where their money will be best spent.

Conducting contract negations so publicly is always a risky endeavor, but in this specific case, "The X Factor" has backed itself into a corner. The show looked silly when talks with music legends Jackson and Carey fell through after so much public discussion, and in making the details of Spears' deal public and then failing to (at this point) lock her in, execs at "The X Factor" look borderline inept.

There's been some discussion that by tossing Miley, Avril and Demi's names into the ring, the show is trying to make Spears seem replaceable and get her to back down on her alleged "various perks."

It's a dirty way to conduct business and ultimately doesn't speak well of what is going on behind the scenes in the show's search for its new panelists. If that is indeed the case, it's like the show is grasping at straws. And that's not the best look when you are walking into the FOX upfronts seeking advertisers on the heels of an underperforming first season.
Related Artists Source: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1684358/x-factor-judges-britney-spears.jhtml Alessandra Ambrosio Alexis Bledel Ali Campoverdi 'Ricky Rozay came through and put that thing down,' he tells MTV News of his sensual collabo with Ross. By Ryan J. Downey Scarlett Johansson in "The Avengers" Photo: Disney/ Marvel When it comes to superhero team-ups, it looks like the whole truly is greater than the sum of its parts: "The Avengers" rocked the box office over the weekend, shattering all domestic opening weekends with an estimated $200 million kickoff. That take is significantly higher than the previous record-holder, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2," which collected $169.2 million when it opened last year. Marvel's landmark comic book flick — which unites Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) against an otherworldly threat — became the fastest movie ever to reach $100 million, $150 million and $200 million at the box office. "The Avengers" also enjoyed the highest per-theater average ever for a nationwide release with $46,057 per theater. Each Avenger has existed within the same Marvel movie universe since Samuel L. Jackson's first post-credits appearance as Nick Fury in 2008's "Iron Man." With the start of its own studio, Marvel was able to circumvent the multiple licensing issues that prevented their heroes from crossing over in films like "Spider-Man" (made by Sony) and "Fantastic Four" (Fox). "The Avengers" made more in three days than the entire runs of "Captain America: The First Avenger" ($176.6 million), "Thor" ($181 million) and "The Incredible Hulk" ($134.8 million). By this weekend, it should surpass "Iron Man" ($318.4 million) and "Iron Man 2" ($312.4 million) as well. "Marvel's The Avengers" (the official title, presumably to avoid confusion with a spy flick based on a British TV series) is the best reviewed of the recent crop, boasting a 93 percent positive critic's average on Rotten Tomatoes at press time. Thanks to "Avengers," this past weekend brought in the overall fifth-highest box office of all time. The flick's 82.7 percent of the weekend's $242 million put it right behind "Spider-Man 3" for biggest weekend market share, according to Box Office Mojo. According to reports, 40 percent of audiences saw it in 3-D, and IMAX theaters simply didn't have enough seats to accommodate demand. "Avengers" has made $441.5 million abroad, where it opened a week before. That makes the movie's overall two-week gross more than $641 million, easily placing it at #1 as the biggest movie of 2012 thus far. No stranger to balancing an ensemble and mixing comic relief with supernaturally driven dramatic tension, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" mastermind Joss Whedon (who co-wrote and directed) isn't officially signed on for "The Avengers 2," but there are, of course, already several "Avengers"-related movies in production. Marvel already has "Iron Man 3" as well as sequels to "Thor" and "Captain America" on the docket, plus filmmaker Edgar Wright's long-discussed "Ant-Man." "Avengers" was the first Marvel movie to be marketed and released by Disney, who bought Marvel for $4 billion back in August 2009. As for the other movies in theaters over the weekend, "Think Like a Man" (which was #1 for the previous two weekends) was #2 with $8 million. Based on comedian Steve Harvey's self-help book, "Think Like a Man" was produced for just $12 million and has made $73 million domestically already. "The Hunger Games," which is now #4 on the all-time weekend openings list, was #3 with $5.7 million giving it a seven-week domestic total of $380.7 million. Zac Efron's "The Lucky One" was just behind with $5.5 million for a three-week total of $47.9 million. "The Pirates! Band of Misfits" rounded out the top five with $5.4 million. The latest from Oscar-winning British animation house Aardman Animations has made $185 million domestically thus far. In a bit of counter-programming, Fox Searchlight's smart dramatic comedy "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" opened in 27 theaters, taking in $750,000. Who will be brave enough to challenge Earth's Mightiest Heroes this weekend? Tim Burton's campy adaptation of classic British vampire soap opera "Dark Shadows," with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter (naturally) in the leads, will make its debut, as will smaller pictures like "God Bless America" (written and directed by comedian Bobcat Goldthwait) and Eva Mendes' "Girl in Progress." The biggest challengers for "The Avengers" will be other heroes: "The Amazing Spider-Man" (July 3) and "The Dark Knight Rises" (July 20). "The Dark Knight" holds the #3 biggest opening-weekend record, while "Spider-Man 3" ranks at #5. Check out everything we've got on "Marvel's The Avengers."
